ClamAV-Clamd ============ A Perl client for the clamd daemon's socket protocol. It does not link libclamav and has no runtime dependencies. clamd holds the signature engine - around 1.6 GB of it once loaded - and this module asks it questions over a UNIX or TCP socket. BEFORE YOU RELY ON IT --------------------- clamd answers "OK" for files it DECLINED to scan. A file over MaxFileSize, an archive nested past MaxRecursion, or a password-protected zip all come back indistinguishable from clean unless clamd is configured to say otherwise. This is not about huge files: on a stock clamd a 2 KB nested zip containing a known signature reports OK. Set these in clamd.conf: AlertExceedsMax yes AlertEncryptedArchive yes AlertEncryptedDoc yes With them, a skipped scan arrives as a detection this module reports as an "unscannable" verdict naming the cause, rather than as a clean file. INSTALLATION ------------ perl Makefile.PL make make test make install A C compiler is required. ClamAV itself is not required to build or test - the suite runs in full against an internal fake, and the tests that need a real clamd skip cleanly when there is not one. ExtUtils::Depends is optional and configure-time only. Without it the module builds and works normally; only the C ABI wiring for other XS distributions is skipped.
